Model-Based Sustainment

Configuration-managed digital ship for naval and commercial fleet sustainment, combining ShipConstructor and ShipbuildingPLM for 3D work planning, automated work packages and clash/access validation.

Description

SSI's model-based sustainment offering replaces disconnected sustainment workflows (CAD, PDFs and spreadsheets across systems) with a configuration-managed digital ship so that teams can plan, execute and maintain vessels across decades of upgrades, refits and operational changes. ShipbuildingPLM acts as the system of record tracking changes through the vessel lifecycle, with ShipConstructor providing the model.

Key features

  • 3D work planning from the real vessel configuration
  • Automated work package creation from engineering data
  • Clash detection and access validation before work begins
  • Integrated planning and scheduling across engineering, planning and execution teams
  • Scaling across individual vessels, classes and global operations

Stated results are more predictable maintenance periods, fewer delays, less rework and improved asset availability. Referenced programs include a US Coast Guard / NSRP Model-Based Product Support project using ShipbuildingPLM, BAE Systems ANZAC-class frigate model-based workflows, and Fleetway Canada Halifax-class digital ship models for docking work periods. The Maintain solution pages also describe building a digital twin after delivery using laser scanning combined with existing CAD, PDF and other data for repair, refit and overhaul work.
