MaK Retrofit / Upgrade / Repower
Methanol and Ethanol Dual Fuel Conversion
HPDI-based conversion of existing M 32 and M 43 diesel engines to run on up to 95% methanol or ethanol by volume.
Description
Powered by high-pressure direct injection (HPDI) technology, this conversion transforms existing M 32 and M 43 diesel engines to operate on up to 95% methanol or ethanol by volume. The site states up to 80% less greenhouse gas emissions, depending on fuel sourcing and blend level, and that the solution has been tested under realistic operating conditions.
Key features
- HPDI-based conversion of existing diesel engines
- Methanol or ethanol share of up to 95% by volume
- Up to 80% GHG reduction, depending on fuel sourcing and blend level
- Applicable to M 32 and M 43 engines
Applications
Retrofit of installed MaK M 32 and M 43 engines for alternative-fuel operation. A fuel blending solution has also received approval in principle, according to a news item on the site.
