About

Yanmar was founded in March 1912 in Osaka, Japan. The founder, Magokichi Yamaoka, was the first in the world to create a compact and practical diesel engine, and the company later expanded into industrial machinery under the principle "To Conserve Fuel Is to Serve Mankind".

The group is led by YANMAR HOLDINGS CO., LTD., based in the YANMAR FLYING-Y BUILDING in Chayamachi, Kita-ku, Osaka, with a branch office in Tokyo. Group companies include YANMAR POWER TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. and YANMAR POWER SOLUTIONS CO., LTD., which has factories in Amagasaki, Hyogo. Further factories and a research and development centre are located in Shiga.

Business areas cover engines, agriculture, compact equipment, energy, marine and components. The brand statement is "A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE", and the YANMAR GREEN CHALLENGE 2050 sets the goal of becoming GHG-free and resource-circulating.
