MAN D2862 Hydrogen Dual Fuel Marine Engine
MAN D2862 V12 hydrogen dual-fuel marine engine for workboats: 749 kW (1,019 hp) at 2,100 rpm, IMO Tier III, cutting CO2 tailpipe emissions by about 50% on average and up to 80%.
Description
The MAN D2862 Hydrogen Dual Fuel engine is a V12 marine diesel engine adapted to burn hydrogen for workboat propulsion. Hydrogen is introduced into the charge air via an adapter; combustion is started on the diesel principle with approx. 5% diesel pilot injection, using common-rail injection parameters optimised for dual-fuel operation. The base diesel engine does not need to be modified for hydrogen. Developed jointly with CMB / CMB.TECH and Windcat Workboats.

Windcat Workboats' Hydrocat 48 crew transfer vessel, based on the Windcat MK3.5 hull, is propelled by two MAN D2862 dual-fuel engines and was the first hydrogen-powered CTV to cut more than 50% of its conventional fuel use.
