About

Goltens was founded by Norwegian-born Sigurd Golten, who started a marine repair workshop in Brooklyn, New York in 1940. After World War II he established Atlantic Diesel in Oslo with his brothers, which later became Goltens Oslo, the start of a worldwide network of workshops.

Sigurd Golten patented his in-situ crankshaft regrinding process in 1965, and Goltens describes itself as the first company to machine a marine crankshaft in situ, in the early 1950s; it reports over 25,000 shafts repaired. Today the company has over 1,000 employees and facilities in 14 countries. The Green Technologies division, launched in 2010, operates six centers of excellence and reports more than 2,000 projects. Goltens Green Technologies B.V. in the Netherlands is ISO 9001:2015 certified and holds LR, DNV and BV approvals for BWMS commissioning testing.
