Description
Heating and cooling in the engine room covers Alfa Laval plate heat exchangers for cost-effective central cooling systems on ships. Gasketed plate heat exchangers reduce the running costs of engine-room cooling.
Central cooling system
- Removes heat from jacket water, lubricating oil, diesel oil and charge air coolers, auxiliary engines and ancillary equipment
- Seawater from the sea chest passes through a coarse strainer to titanium central coolers and then overboard
- Fresh water circulates through the central coolers with a bypass regulation valve to keep the low-temperature circuit at constant temperature
- Part of the excess jacket water heat can produce fresh water in an Alfa Laval AQUA Blue freshwater generator
