About

South Bay Cable was founded in 1957 to supply custom cable and cable assemblies to Southern California. Its first manufacturing facility was in Gardena, California, where it stayed for thirteen years before relocating to Idyllwild in 1970. A second plant opened in Temecula, fifty miles away, in 1986. The two sites provide over 80,000 square feet of production space and complement each other's capabilities.

The company draws and strands nearly all of its own copper, extrudes insulation on conductors as small as 30 gauge and jackets up to four inches in diameter, and runs planetary cabling, armoring, braiding, taping and fairing lines. Its QA department tests with OTDRs, an impedance analyzer, a high voltage test facility, environmental ovens and hydrostatic pressure test fixtures.
