Hale Propeller Repair & Overhaul
Computerized Dynamic Balancing
Geometric (blade matching), static and multi-plane dynamic propeller balancing on a Dynamics Research 602 Computerized Dynamic Balance System.
Description
A propeller may be in perfect static balance and still be out of balance when rotating at high speed. Hale Propeller offers three types of propeller balance and performs dynamic balancing on a Dynamics Research 602 Multi-Plane Computerized Dynamic Balance System.
Key features
- Geometric balance (blade matching): each measured position on a blade is compared with the identical point on every other blade, using the Hale MRI's 3D measurement of the actual blade pressure-surface offsets
- Static balance: the propeller is mounted on an arbor on bearings and rotated in the vertical plane, with weight added or removed until it stays static in any position
- Dynamic balance: corrects couple or twisting forces in two separate planes that cause fore-and-aft or side-to-side rocking, vibration and reduced bearing life
Applications
Inboard propellers repaired by Hale Propeller are dynamically balanced as standard; the service page shows a 38" diameter 5-blade propeller being dynamically balanced.
