About
Crescent Towing and Salvage was established on May 7, 1942 by the Smith Family of New Orleans, Louisiana. Operations opened in Mobile on November 11, 1979 and in Savannah on December 20, 1985.
In 1983 its then parent, T. Smith and Son, merged with Cooper Stevedoring to form The Cooper Group, Inc., which is now the parent group. New-build tugs are specified to ABS classification, including escort class towing, and are designed by Crowley Engineering Services.
