STEAMing Into The Future Education Program
Free, standards-aligned online STEAM lesson plans for K-12 educators built on SSHSA's maritime archives, plus professional development for teachers.
Description
STEAMing Into The Future is SSHSA's educational program for K-12 educators, blending Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics through free, standards-aligned online modules drawn from the society's archives. Lesson plans include topics such as the history of ventilation on ships, buoyancy with Lego boats, aluminium foil boats, dimensional analysis for steamships and undersea cables. The program was made possible by grants from the National Park Service's National Maritime Heritage Program and the Heritage Harbor Foundation. SSHSA also provides professional development presentations for educators, such as a workshop with the New England Association of Chemistry Teachers.
