About
The yard traces its origins to 1798, when Daniel and Jesse Crosby, Jr. began building boats on leased waterfront land in Osterville. In 1850 brothers Horace S. and C. Worthington Crosby built Little Eva, the original Crosby Catboat. In 1914 Horace Manley Crosby designed the Wianno Senior, a gaff-rigged centerboard sloop for one-design racing at the Wianno Yacht Club, followed by the Crosby Striper and other commissioned builds.
The Kennedy family's Wianno Senior, Victura, was built, stored and maintained at the yard. The business has operated as the Crosby Yacht Building and Storage Company, Crosby Boat Builders, Crosby Yacht and Crosby Yacht Yard, all at the same location.
