Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Static and quasi-static finite element analysis of marine structures for extreme design loads, over-stress and buckling.
Description
MCA uses a finite element analysis (FEA) approach for static and quasi-static assessments of marine structures. The analysis quantifies the effects of extreme design loads and predicts the relative likelihood of failure due to over-stress and buckling.
Candidate modifications addressing areas of concern are also simulated to optimize them and confirm their effectiveness before implementation.
Key features
- Static and quasi-static assessment
- Quantification of extreme design load effects
- Prediction of over-stress and buckling failure likelihood
- Simulation of candidate structural modifications
Applications
- Oil tankers and container ships
- Other marine structures requiring structural assessment
