Hydraulic tunnel thrusters with a fixed-pitch propeller directly coupled to a podded hydraulic motor, 16 to 84 in tunnel diameter and 30 to 2,000 HP; 16–36 in units also in aluminium. ABS type-approved sizes.
Description
Thrustmaster Tunnel Thrusters – Hydraulic Pod Motor Driven consist of a high-thrust fixed-pitch propeller on a heavy propeller shaft, directly coupled to Thrustmaster's podded hydraulic motor for infinitely variable propeller speed in both directions. They are supplied as complete units installed in a section of steel tunnel.
Key features
- Variable-flow hydrostatic drive; full thrust reversal within 3 to 5 seconds, in manual or DP mode
- No drive shafts, gears or couplings; bearings lubricated by hydraulic fluid, no grease points
- Hydraulic system relieves transmission overloads, protecting the drive from ingested debris
- Prime mover (constant-speed electric motor or diesel) can be located anywhere in the vessel; thruster room becomes a void space
- No routine maintenance beyond the hydraulic system and prime mover; rebuild recommended every 40,000 hours
- Bridge panel with friction-held joystick, LCD display, ECU proportional control, alarms, emergency stop, VFD logic and optional DP interface
