About
Seymour Waterman started Waterman Supply Co. in 1951 after serving in the Navy during WWII, buying surplus equipment at auction, refurbishing it and re-selling it. The business outgrew his pickup truck and moved to a yard in Wilmington, California, where he was joined by Max Mougan, who became a lifelong business partner.
The company has remained in the family. No longer just a purveyor of surplus equipment, it now holds a large inventory of new and used marine and heavy lifting equipment and works with joint venture partners Anchor Marine & Industrial Supply on marine products and Associated Wire Rope & Rigging on heavy-lifting equipment.
