About

Winslow was founded in 1941 as the New York Rubber Company, building liferafts for the Allied Forces. After World War II the company moved to Sarasota, Florida, and was acquired by John C. Winslow, who produced the first marine and aviation liferafts available to the private sector.

In 1989 the company was acquired by offshore racer Fred Shoaff, whose focus on weight and manageability led to the Winslow Super-Light liferaft. In 1994 Winslow's aviation version of its offshore liferaft received top honors in an independent review by The Aviation Consumer; the company then secured FAA TSO approval and became an OEM supplier to business jet manufacturers. Winslow added aircraft escape slide service in 2003. It is now a division of Collins Aerospace, and its service operations are AS9100 certified.
