Maritime Medical Case Management
Oversight of crew medical treatment by licensed physician or nurse case managers, from onboard report through repatriation.
Description
Maritime Medical Case Management (MCM) is a Future Care program for professional oversight of medical treatment. A licensed physician or nurse case manager communicates with attending physicians, hospital staff and the crewmember, reviews and monitors treatment, and assists with release and repatriation when the crewmember is certified fit.
Key features
- Under the Caring for the Crew program, the team responds from the moment a medical issue is reported onboard
- The case manager steers the crewmember to an appropriate facility and coordinates admission and transport with the port agent
- Developments are reported to the shipowner and P&I Club
- For extended convalescence, post-discharge treatment is supervised until the crewmember is fit for duty
