Wärtsilä WST-R retractable thrusters, 750 kW to 6.5 MW in L- and Z-drive, with an 8-degree tilted propeller shaft for 15–20% more effective thrust in DP station keeping; underwater-mountable WST-RU versions.
Description
Wärtsilä retractable thrusters (WST-R) are designed for reliable dynamic positioning and station keeping in demanding offshore conditions. An 8-degree downward tilt of the propeller shaft minimises thruster-hull interaction, increasing available thrust by 15–20% compared with non-tilted thrusters, so less installed power is needed for the same DP capability.
