ECS-HYCHLOR System
Indirect electrolysis BWMS for ships whose piping cannot host an electrolysis chamber; 5 kW per 100 tons of seawater.
Description
HYCHLOR (ECS-HYCHLOR System) is a ballast water management system using indirect electrolysis. It consists of indirect electrolysis units, a neutralizer and other devices. Only 1% of the seawater taken in is sent to the indirect electrolysis unit to generate high-concentration TRO, which is returned to the main pipes and diluted to a maximum TRO concentration of 5.0 mg/L to disinfect remaining microorganisms. During deballasting only the remaining TRO is neutralized before discharge.
Key features
- Indirect electrolysis treating 1% of intake seawater
- Maximum TRO concentration of 5.0 mg/L
- Power consumption of 5 kW per 100 tons of seawater
Applications
An alternative for ships whose piping cannot directly host an electrolysis chamber.
