ECS (Electro-Cleen System)
Direct electrolysis ballast water management system using proprietary electrodes; 3.4 kW per 100 tons of seawater.
Description
ECS (Electro-Cleen System) is a ballast water management system (BWMS) that uses direct electrolysis. Seawater entering the vessel passes through the electrolysis unit (ECU) and is sterilized by a direct electric process. Remaining hypochlorous acid in the ballast tank prevents regrowth of microorganisms. At deballasting the remaining total residual oxidant (TRO) is neutralized and the water is discharged without passing through the ECU.
Techcross received basic approval from the IMO for the world's first BWMS in 2006.
