Description
The KAMOME Reaction and Bulb Rudder is an energy-saving rudder that combines a reaction rudder, whose upper and lower leading edges are bent to generate rudder thrust from the propeller's swirling flow, with a spindle-shaped rudder bulb positioned close to the propeller hub to suppress the hub vortex. The optimum shape was developed using both CFD and tank testing.
Performance (compared with Kamome's conventional K-7 rudder)
- Rudder resistance reduced by 30%
- Propulsive efficiency improved by about 4%, through lower rudder drag and recovery of hub vortex energy
Configurations
- Available for K-7 H type (hanging), M type (mariner) and S type (with shoe piece) rudders
- Can be combined with Kamome's energy-saving SG propeller
