HECSTAB

Design and regulatory stability software for naval architects: integrated modeling, trim, intact and damage stability, longitudinal strength, Rhino3D integration and Python scripting.

Description

HECSTAB is a design and regulatory stability assessment package for naval architects involved in ship design and analysis. Users build models to analyze trim, intact and damage stability and longitudinal strength, then modify designs and re-run assessments. A 2020 release expanded HECSTAB to all vessel types, with analysis templates for deterministic and probabilistic damage stability, pre-designed criteria, improved 3D viewports and a fully documented API.

Key features

  • Fully integrated modeling package with Rhino3D integration
  • Hierarchical analysis interface and wizard-style analysis templates
  • Intact and free-floating damage stability, multiple grounding types and longitudinal strength
  • Python scripting engine, Python API and script-based reporting
  • Compatibility with CargoMax

Supporting modules

Python Editor, Ship Project Editor, Section Modulus Editor, and Rhino3D and Grasshopper plugins for hull and compartmentation modeling and parametric design (Rhino 7 required for plugin support; Python scripts available for older versions). HECSTAB applies to floating structures from the largest FLNGs to the smallest fishing vessels.
