GHS (General HydroStatics)

Naval architect's ship stability and strength package that calculates floating attitude, load capacity, capsize and damage survival; widely used for trim and stability books.

Description

GHS is the naval architect's package from Creative Systems. It builds a geometrical model of the vessel and its tanks and calculates how deep and at what attitude the vessel will float, how much load it will carry, when it will capsize and whether it survives damage.

It also calculates tank characteristics (volume and surface properties), longitudinal strength (shear and bending moments, stress and deflection) and ground reaction. Features include complex stability criteria, true CG shifts of tank contents, tank modes for flooding, damage and spilling, heeling about any axis, wind heeling moments derived from geometry, ground modeling and multi-body capability. It has been used on submarines, SWATHs, dry docks, drilling platforms, sailboats, freighters and floating bridges, and a primary application is trim and stability books.
