About
Incat states that its story began in 1977, when Robert Clifford launched the first high-speed aluminium catamaran on the Derwent River, about 200 metres from the present shipyard. The company later introduced the wave-piercing catamaran design.
Incat is Tasmanian owned and operated and employs more than 500 people. Vessels are built in a 70,000 m2 undercover facility using staged modular production, and naval architecture is carried out with Revolution Design. The company states it is scaling up its workforce and expanding shipyard capacity to deliver multiple electric and hybrid aluminium ferries each year.
