VPS Inspection, Survey & Testing
Fuel Quality Testing (FQT)
Bunker fuel quality testing to ISO8217 at ISO17025-accredited VPS laboratories, normally completed within 24 hours, with additional pre- and post-burn tests.
Description
VPS Fuel Quality Testing determines bunker fuel quality against the ISO8217 marine fuel specification and checks compliance with IMO environmental regulations and SOLAS safety requirements. VPS tested the first bunker fuel sample in 1980 and every VPS laboratory, and every ISO8217 test, holds ISO17025 accreditation.
Representative samples are taken at the vessel's manifold using VPS sampling kits, with sample logistics handled through the Samplogic tool. Results are delivered in a colour-coded Enhanced FQT Report together with technical advice.
