General Dynamics Mission Systems Engineering & Design Enhanced
Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Mission System Integration
Open-architecture computing infrastructure and whole-ship electronic integration for the U.S. Navy Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship, plus NSM integration and C5I lifecycle support.
Description
General Dynamics Mission Systems provides the core mission system of the U.S. Navy's Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), built on its open architecture computing infrastructure (OPEN CI). The computing technology controls everything from driving the ship to firing its guns and is designed to maximize automation so sailors can focus on their missions.
Key features
- "Any display, anywhere": any information can be shown on any monitor throughout the ship, so the ship is not operated only from the bridge
- Command and control environment for a coordinated air, surface and undersea tactical picture
- Greater usable space and higher mission module capacity
Applications
- Integration of over-the-horizon Naval Strike Missile (NSM) systems onto all Independence-variant LCSs
- In-service engineering and lifecycle support for the ships' C5I systems (2024 award)
- Development and upgrades of the hull, mechanical and electrical system, including software upgrades and maintenance of the engineering control system (2021 award)
