Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) Mission Systems Integration
Ship mission system integration for the U.S. Navy/Army Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) catamarans, as subcontractor to Austal.
Description
General Dynamics Mission Systems is the ship mission system integrator for the Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF), formerly the Joint High Speed Vessel (JHSV), a joint-use platform operated by the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy. Working as a subcontractor to Austal, the company designs, integrates and tests the EPF's electronic mission systems. The work builds on the computing infrastructure deployed on the Littoral Combat Ship program.
Key features
- Backbone computing infrastructure
- Internal and external communication systems
- Electronic navigation, aviation and armament systems
Applications
EPFs are fast, flexible and maneuverable catamarans able to operate in shallow waters. They support logistics, humanitarian, disaster response and maritime law enforcement missions, and fleet experiments have included the Knifefish surface mine countermeasure UUV.
