Description
ELIN Motoren's test field and diagnostics service performs electrical tests on all synchronous and asynchronous machines, from routine to system tests, at its test facility or worldwide with a mobile diagnostic system.
Test field data
- Total area: about 1,000 m²
- Supply voltages: up to 15,000 V
- Full load tests: up to 6 MW directly coupled
- Substitute test procedure for asynchronous machines up to 15 MW
- Substitute test procedure for synchronous machines up to 50 MVA
Machine diagnostics
Diagnostics detect insulation and surface faults in rotating electrical machines early, such as delamination, voids (shrink holes), contamination, changes to corona protection and humidity.
- Loss factor (tan delta) measurement – a baseline at manufacture or commissioning; deviations in repeat measurements indicate changes in the dielectric
- Partial discharge measurement – locates insulation defects and quantifies discharge size and charge; repeat measurements during revisions track changes in the insulation system
- Supports condition-based maintenance and budget planning
