Wärtsilä ship propeller solutions cover fixed and controllable pitch propellers and related efficiency devices, matched to the vessel type, operating conditions, propulsion power and shaftline requirements.
Portfolio
- Controllable pitch propellers (CPP): blade angle adjustable in operation for varying conditions; suited to ferries, short sea ships, trawlers, icebreakers and dredgers
- Fixed pitch propellers (FPP): no blade actuation system, the most robust type; common on container vessels, tankers, bulk carriers and dry cargo vessels
- Built-up propellers: blades replaceable under water, for vessels with frequent risk of propeller damage
- EnergoProFin: propeller cap with fins rotating with the propeller; average fuel savings of 2% with payback under one year
- EnergoFlow: pre-swirl stator optimising propeller inflow; propulsive efficiency improvement of 2–7%
- OPTI Design: CFD-based methodology matching propeller, engine and hull
