Solé Dry Exhaust Kits and Keel Cooling

Solé Advance offers a dry exhaust kit and a keel cooling configuration for Solé marine engines as alternatives to the standard wet exhaust and open seawater cooling circuit.

Dry exhaust kits

Standard Solé marine engines use a wet exhaust, with seawater injected at the exhaust elbow. The dry exhaust option keeps seawater out of the exhaust gases so the exhaust line is fully independent, minimising the risk of water entering the engine through the exhaust manifold. Versions:

• Basic Dry Exhaust Outlet Flange Kit: basic adaptation plate
• Flexible & Dry Exhaust Kit: adds a flexible elbow to the flange for tight spaces or special requirements
• Quiet Dry Exhaust Kit: adds a silencer to significantly reduce noise

Keel cooling

Keel cooling is a closed cooling system in which engine coolant circulates through a cooler mounted on the hull below the waterline, transferring heat directly to the surrounding seawater. Compared with open-circuit cooling it:

• Eliminates internal heat exchangers, raw-water pumps, filters and seawater piping, reducing maintenance
• Prevents sediment, algae and sand accumulation and saltwater corrosion in the system
• Avoids seawater entry into the hull

Installation types include recessed (minimal drag, suited to fast vessels), external (often with fairing and side plates, common in retrofits), side mounting, and internal box coolers for commercial vessels.

Keel cooling kit for Solé engines

Solé engines supplied as "Prepared for Keel Cooling" are fully adapted for this function: they include a dry exhaust flange and are delivered without the conventional seawater cooling circuit. The externally installed keel cooler itself is not designed or supplied by Solé.
