Electrical and Control Engineering, Hybrid Propulsion Course
Three-day Lloyd's Register course on hybrid marine propulsion systems, battery technology, control and software-based systems, and LR design appraisal and survey requirements.
Description
Electrical and Control Engineering, Hybrid Propulsion is a three-day classroom course from Lloyd's Register introducing the main types of hybrid marine propulsion systems and how LR's design appraisal and survey processes apply to them. It also recaps LR survey requirements for conventional marine electrical systems as the basis for hybrid designs.
Who it is for
Marine engineers and system designers working with electrical, control and software-based systems in hybrid propulsion. Delegates should understand electrical and control engineering fundamentals and LR's related Rules.
Course content
- Control engineering systems and surveys
- Integrated and software-based systems in the marine environment; software life cycle
- LR Alternative Risk Based Design (ARBD) appraisal for novel designs
- LR Battery Guidance Notes
- Common hybrid configurations and systems
- Battery chemistries and battery management systems
- Charging methodologies
- Alternative fuels and designs
- Statutory, fire protection and hazardous area considerations
- Survey requirements and software considerations
A certificate is awarded on successful completion.
