Voyager Buoy
Iridium-connected ocean surface drifter reporting GPS position, sea surface temperature and battery status in near real time.
Description
The Voyager Buoy is an ocean surface drifter that integrates precision sensors with Iridium satellites to deliver real-time GPS position, sea surface temperature and battery status.
It can be hand-launched or air-deployed with an optional parachute and is switched on with a magnetic switch. Reporting intervals can be changed over the air, and data is available through a live portal, GIS feeds and an optional TimeZero Professional integration.
Key features
- Iridium 9602 SBD with dual-band Iridium/GPS antenna
- User-replaceable D-cell alkaline batteries, 25 days to 6 months endurance
- Fastest reporting interval of 2 min
- Operational to 8 m significant wave height, survival rated to 12 m
- Optional parachute drogue
Applications
Maritime search and rescue (with a rapid response mode), oil spill response, ocean current tracking, outfall and dredge plume tracking, sea surface temperature logging, and contaminant and debris tracking.
