About
The school's first class launched a Chamberlain dory-skiff in December 1978 on a stretch of the Kennebunk River known as The Landing, a historic shipbuilding area. The Yacht Design program was created in 1979 and the Marine Systems program launched in September 1999. Composite Boatbuilding was added after a large campus addition completed in 2007.
On October 30, 2026 the Trustees announced negotiations for the proposed sale of the Arundel campus to the Biddeford Regional Center of Technology (BRCOT) and the Biddeford School Department, preserving its use for career and technical education. The arrangement does not change the previously announced closure of The Landing School as a post-secondary institution.
