About
Oquawka Boats started in 1985 in a garage, when Delbert Thompson Sr. and his daughter-in-law worked day and night to design and build a boat; that first boat is reported to still be in use today. The business remains family run, with employees made up of family and friends.
Carmen Thompson, President, helped develop the company in 1992 and oversees every boat from start to finish. Delbert Thompson III, Vice President, welder and fabrication shop manager, joined in 1997 to weld. The company reports growth from five boats a year to more than five boats a month, in a small town beside the Mississippi River in Illinois.
