About
Airmar was founded in 1982 by Stephen Boucher; its first product was a transom-mounted transducer for fish-finders. The company is headquartered in Milford, New Hampshire, where it opened a second manufacturing facility in 2014. Airmar employs over 300 people and operates a vertically integrated model from concept to production.
Airmar acquired Marport, an Icelandic developer of acoustic monitoring systems for commercial fishing fleets, in 2013, and also owns MSI Transducers of Littleton, Massachusetts, founded in 1991 as a maker of advanced transducer materials and now supplying custom components and assemblies, with strong ties to defense contractors. In December 2023 Airmar was acquired by Amphenol and is part of its Interconnect and Sensor Systems Division.
