Description
Superstrand™ and Gorilla Superstrand™ are wire ropes made for Paducah Rigging and designed by German engineers for face, wing, winch, stationary and barge wire applications in the inland marine industry. The wire is bought in bulk, usually on 5000 foot reels, and brought into the Kentucky and Louisiana branches, where it is cut to length and fitted to customer specifications.
Key features
- Designed to resist bad spooling, kinks and birdcaging
- Described as more flexible than other ropes used in this application
- Gorilla Superstrand offers more strength, or allows downsizing to a lighter wire
- Each reel is inspected and pulled to destruction on the company's test bed
- Fittings and fabrication equipment are tested regularly
