ERMA FIRST CARBON FIT
Proprietary onboard carbon capture and storage systems based on amine absorption or calcium hydroxide, with Approval in Principle.
Description
CARBON FIT is ERMA FIRST's proprietary carbon capture and storage (CCS) offering for ships, and it holds Approval in Principle.
The amine absorption system uses a proprietary amine solvent to absorb CO2 from flue gas in a specially designed absorber. The solvent is regenerated with heat, releasing CO2, which is liquefied and stored under cryogenic conditions onboard; the regenerated solvent is reused.
The calcium hydroxide system uses an inorganic alkali solution in a reactor to capture CO2 from flue gas, creating a calcium carbonate slurry as a byproduct.
Key features
- Amine absorption system with onboard cryogenic CO2 storage
- Calcium hydroxide system with calcium carbonate slurry byproduct
- Approval in Principle
Applications
- Onboard emission reduction for ships
