Smart Mooring
Intelligent mooring cable for the Spotter Buoy that carries Bristlemouth-enabled subsurface sensors for temperature, currents, water level and more.
Description
Smart Mooring is an intelligent Kevlar cable added to a Spotter Buoy to extend real-time data collection below the surface. Bristlemouth-enabled sensors plug into the cable, and the buoy acts as the hub for power and communication. The platform page states moorings in up to 100 m of water. Data is accessed through the Spotter Dashboard, with real-time alerts and historical analysis, and through a JSON API.
Key features
- Spotter Temperature: multiple temperature sensors to profile the water column and map thermal stratification
- Spotter Currents: current meter measuring subsurface current speed and direction
- Spotter Water Level: subsurface pressure sensor combined with the buoy barometer to track tides, water depth and storm surge
- Plug-in Bristlemouth sensor connections, powered from the buoy
Applications
Subsurface monitoring for research, coastal and offshore projects that need temperature, current or water level data alongside surface wave and weather data.
